Mark 8:34

When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, "Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. NKJV
Walking with Christ is not the easiest or simplest thing.

We are to deny ourselves anything that might distract us from God or hinder the growing of our relationship with Him, or anything that, while not a hindrance or sin, might increase our focus and grow our relationship with Him through it's denial.

We are not just to bear our cross, we are to take it up and carry it willingly, all of our troubles and difficulties.

And we are to do these things while following Him, emulating Him, and obeying Him.

I need to pray about it still, but after reading this verse I feel called to continue fasting.

Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling,
And to present you faultless
Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,
To God our Savior,
Who alone is wise,
Be glory and majesty,
Dominion and power,
Both now and forever.
Amen.

  1. Such an awesome point...we need to not just follow Him, but to imitate Him..."do things while following Him"

  2. Just hearing the word "deny" makes my flesh cringe ha ha! If we could do that though, and become empty vessels, what great things He can do! And it's awesome to see you truly living this out :]
